FAQ

If I have not answered any of your questions, please feel free to contact me by email or phone.

Where do photo sessions take place?

Studio session: Take the pressure off from weather conditions, time of day and natural lighting conditions with Studio sessions at home studio located in Forest Lake, Brisbane.

Outdoor session: At location agreed by both pet owner and photographer. Subject to weather conditions and time of day.

Does my dog need to be groomed before the session?

This is completely up to you and how you want your fur baby to look in photos. Perhaps a bath and/or a brush will do the trick. However, for long hair breeds would ask for your dog’s eyes to be visible – the eyes are the windows to their soul, and I feel images will miss that special connection without visible eyes.

My dog never sits still long enough, would you still be able to get nice pictures of them?

You always want a dog that would sit and model like a human for portrait photography – but that’s not realistic, and are initially full of energy and want to have a good sniff. We would suggest a walk near studio or location first to relax your fur baby in a new location, time to sniff and get use to lights and cameras. It is always beneficial for your pet to have your involvement, along with a few treats and their favourite toy.

My dog can’t be off a leash. Can I still do a session?

Unless you want a photo of your dog in full action, running through water or jumping in the air, then yes you can keep your dog on a leash. A leash can provide reassurity for you and your dog, particularly in an outdoor location and if a location requires all dogs to be on a leash. Leashes can be removed during editing but would ask that no chain collars or leashes be used, and that all licence tags be removed from collars.  Please avoid the use of harnesses as this will hide too much of the dog’s chest and too difficult to remove in editing.

Can I be included in images as well?

Yes, you can be included but advise in advance that pets are my specialist area and I’m definitely not a specialist in human portraiture.

In saying that I think it is important to show the connection between you and your fur baby and would definitely encourage some images which can be achieved by just including hands, paws, boots and hugs, there are many options to do this.

Who can come to the session?

In the interest of minimizing distractions only ask those who live in your household and/or are participating in photo session to attend. Likewise, one or two fur babies from the same household only and participating in photo session may attend.  Pet owner or person responsible for pet, must restrain any additional pet during photo shoot. Additional pets from the same household may also attend at an additional cost and agreed to prior to photo session.

How long do I have to make a decision to purchase artwork, how long will you keep images?

I keep images from your photo session for two months, after which I will permanently delete. I will keep images purchased for artwork for 12 months.
